Tevez: major threat to United defence
Reuters
Manchester police and the Football Association have urged fans of both Manchester teams to show restraint ahead of tonight's final leg in the Carling Cup semi-final.
Sir Alex Ferguson and Roberto Mancini have been told to remind their players of their social responsibilities as the two clubs face each other at Old Trafford. The first leg was blighted by incidents on and off the pitch, with the arrest of 18 Manchester United and Manchester City supporters.
There was also an altercation between Carlos Tevez of City and United's Gary Neville. United go into the home leg 2-1 down despite taking an early lead through veteran Ryan Giggs.
Two goals from their former striker Carlos Tevez saw City win the first leg. Sir Alex believes Manchester United have nothing to worry about going into tonight’s game. "We have great players who play to the right rules of the game. We have never had any issues in big games. Look at the record. I am not worried about it," he said.
Crowd trouble
Four more people were arrested this morning following disturbances in the City of Manchester stadium last week. Greater Manchester Police is drafting in an extra 75 police officers to help ease more crowd troubles in tonight’s fixture.
Detective Chief Inspector Mark Roters of the Greater Manchester Police described those involved in the disturbances as "mindless thugs".
